India for Diversity Campaign (IFD)

The true measure of progress in a society is where all sections and communities that make up the sociocultural fabric of the country have equal access to resources to learn and succeed. Yet while diversity and inclusion are being embraced globally, India is witnessing a widening socio-economic gap among its communities. The challenges and criticisms that we face today for skewed development and lack of diversity in many sectors are directly because of a persistent disregard for active inclusion of historically deprived categories like SC/ST/OBCs in the task of nation-building. Each social and economic sphere must try to adequately represent the diversity of people that constitute the country. The importance of diversity is proven by the fact that the more we meet people who have a different language, different faith, or a different belief system, the more we realize how little we know and how much we need to learn about the world around us.

In late 2017, GEN volunteers organized a series of IFD events across various cities in India to reinforce the need for Diversity & Inclusion in educational institutes for equitable representation of marginalized communities.
